States' Rights # 2
"States' Rights" is the name given to the political doctrine embodied in the Tenth Amendment of the Bill of Rights, namely that all powers not specifically given to the federal government in the Constitution belong to the States. The use of "States' Rights" is the last defence of the people against an ever-growing, all-powerful federal government; and the mechanisms of States' Rights include such practices as interposition, nullification, and secession. All of the Founding Fathers, and Confederate forefathers, believed in the principle of States' Rights; and it is only now in the 21st Century beginning to be reasserted as the solution to today's problems in America emanating from Washington, D.C.
This Set Includes:
Clyde Wilson - States' Rights
A clear and precise discussion of the principle and use of States' Rights, primarily in the historical Southern use in defense of our constitutional liberties.
Donald Livingston - States' Rights: Southern & American Opposition to Tyranny
This presentation demonstrates that States' Rights is an American principle, not just a Southern tradition. It lays out the case for States' Rights as one of the ultimate tools for preserving our sacred liberties against tyranny.
Thomas Woods - The States' Rights Tradition Nobody Knows
This lecture provides the historical argument for the use of States' Rights and emphasizes the fact that, in many instances prior to 1861, it was Northern states who employed the use of States' Rights to defend the sovereignty of their respective states.
Ray McBerry - The Resurgence of States' Rights
A look at exactly what "is" States' Rights, along with an encouraging summary of the returning interest in States' Rights.
